Setting : This semester-based unit is designed for seminary students, clergy and laypersons who are interested in learning about end-of-life issues, enhancing their own spiritual formation and enhancing their pastoral care skills. Each unit will be conducted for a minimum of 400 hours over a period of 19 weeks.

CPE students function as chaplains and as members of an interdisciplinary team. They are supervised closely in the provision of their care not only by the VITAS management team, but also by the CPE program. Verbatim reports of visits are presented along with VITAS documentation.Seminars focus on interpersonal relationships, accountability, family systems, theological reflection, grief dynamics, etc. Individual and group supervision fosters personal and professional growth. Deposit Fee: A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is required upon acceptance into the program to hold a place in the program. The deposit is applied to the total tuition.

Individual Tuition: $475.00. The $100.00 deposit fee and the regional registration fee is included in this tuition fee. Fee is due on the first day of the unit unless other arrangements are made in writing.

Fees for VITAS staff: $55.00 regional registration fee is due no later than the last day of the unit, payable to the Southwest Region, ACPE.
