The CPE Supervisor at VITAS San Diego is John Gillman, Ph.D. Having extensive experience as a chaplain and a pastoral educator, he is certified by both the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) and the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC). VITAS is accredited to offer Level I, Level II, and Supervisory CPE by the ACPE. CPE students also may earn academic credit for their unit of CPE.

The tuition for individuals for a unit of CPE is $500. For those sponsored by a seminary or institution the tuition is $650. In addition, there is a non-refundable application fee of
$35. Students are reimbursed for mileage when visiting hospice patients and their families.
